Koty Parazytologia

Koty bezpańskie i wychodzące na zewnątrz charakteryzują się większym ryzykiem występowania inwazji pasożytów płucnych, przede wszystkim na obszarach endemicznych (Iorio i Traversa, 2008). Niedopuszczanie do zachowań łowieckich może sprzyjać zapobieganiu inwazjom wywołanym przez nicienie z rodziny Metastrongyloides lub przywry płucne o złożonych cyklach rozwojowych. W przypadku tych ostatnich jest to jedyny środek zapobiegawczy. Zarejestrowano preparat spot-on zawierający eprynomektynę (Knaus i wsp., 2014), który oprócz stadiów dorosłych zabija również postacie larwalne L3 i L4 A. abstrusus oraz L4 T. brevior, dlatego może on być stosowany w zapobieganiu chorobie.
Capillaria aerophila ma potencjał zoonotyczny. Przypadki kapilariozy u ludzi opisano na całym świecie, są one jednak sporadyczne. U ludzi choroba objawia się zapaleniem oskrzeli z kaszlem oraz odkrztuszaniem, ale krwioplucie i guzkowate zmiany naciekowe w płucach wymagają diagnostyki różnicowej w związku z możliwością występowania raka płuc (Lalosević i wsp., 2008).
Paragonimoza to choroba odzwierzęca przenoszona przez żywność. Występuje u ludzi spożywających surowe skorupiaki. Inwazje u kotów nie stanowią zagrożenia dla ludzi (Macpherson, 2005; Liu i wsp., 2008).
